Terrifying footage showed the wreckage of a tourist bus that was involved in a horrifying accident today.
At least 12 people were killed and many more injured after the driver fell asleep behind the wheel.
The incident took place when a bus carrying Polish pilgrims veered off a motorway in Hungary and ran into a ditch. Cops shared how the bus overturned after coming off the M3 motorway, which links Hungary's capital Budapest with the north-eastern city of Nyíregyháza, at about 1 local time on Sunday.
Officers believe the driver fell asleep at the wheel. He's now been taken into custody. 35 out of the 57 passengers and two drivers on board have been rescued by firefighters so far, as per state media reports.
Emergency services were seen trying to attempt to lift the rear axle of the 24-tonne bus to remove those trapped underneath before cranes arrived to lift the whole vehicle, as per official reports.
