Neutrogena is facing major public backlash after the tragic death of actress Hayden Panettiere on August 16.
After a decade as a brand ambassador, Panettiere was dropped by Neutrogena in 2015 after speaking openly about her struggles with postpartum depression.
In her May 2026 Memoir, she revealed that the brand terminated her deal under a morals clause, leaving her heartbroken.

Following her death, fans resurfaced these past events and called for a boycott of the skincare company. The firm broke its silence, issuing a social media statement expressing sadness over her passing, acknowledging that they made her feel unsupported, and announcing a financial investment towards community health partners providing PPD care.

Many consumers widely dismissed the move as too little, too late.
