The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has taken another major twist with a new ransom note appearing last night.
The note was again sent to the media outlet TMZ in the form of an email. The individual in the message claimed to have more information about the person alleged to be responsible for her sudden disappearance and included a demand for the cryptocurrency payment in return for the name and location of the main individual.
Uniquely, the message ends with a line that urged the authorities to be prepared to go international.
They suggested that the sender strongly believes the purported suspect might have left the US, possibly across a nearby border. This has given rise to a new and unsettling matter in a case that has already filled a lot of uncertainty.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her Tucson, Arizona, residence on the night of January 31, and law enforcement has treated this disappearance as a potential abduction.
Surveillance footage captured a masked individual at her door that same night. Since then, investigators have rolled out descriptions of the person of interest.
