Costco brings back cult-favorite sweet treat discontinued in 2024, exciting shoppers

Costco is bringing back its famous Kirkland Signature treats, which were first discontinued in the year 2024.

The fan-favorite ingredient has people wondering if it's safe to consume after a range of controversies arose regarding the item in the past.

The product in question is the signature semi-sweet chocolate chips that have been a favorite amongst bakers for years. The first removal was driven by a serious global cocoa crisis that same year. Record-breaking cocoa supply deficits pushed futures past $11k per metric ton.

This was up from typical baselines of $2500 to $3000, making it hard to maintain its usual profit margins.
