An Italian family's holiday celebrations transformed into an absolute nightmare after a mother and daughter passed away following a festive dinner.
Antonella Di Lisi and her 15-year-old daughter Sara Di Vita died within hours of one another over the weekend at the Cardarelli hospital in Campobasso, southern.

Investigators suspect that the cause of death was linked to food poisoning after a meal that the family had consumed the day before Christmas. The menu comprised mushrooms, fish, seafood, and some mussels. These were the dishes traditionally enjoyed near Christmas time in the region.
The mother and daughter experienced the same symptoms, including nausea and severe abdominal pain in the days after the meal.

They were both admitted to a nearby hospital, where the teen passed away at about 10:30 pm on Saturday evening, while her mom passed away a few hours later on Sunday morning.
