Norway is all set to file a formal complaint against US President Donald Trump and his serious breach of the World Cup rules.
The Norwegian Football Federation is now preparing to file a formal ethics complaint with FIFA over Trump's political interference during this year's event.
American striker Folarin Balogun received a straight red card during a round of 32 match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, triggering an automatic one-game ban.
President Trump publicly labeled the referee's decision horrible and personally phoned FIFA President Gianni Infantino to review this major suspension. Following this call, FIFA's disciplinary committee chairman Mohammad Al Kamali unilaterally deferred this ban, without consulting the other 17 committee members, allowing Balogun to play against Belgium.
NFF President Lise Klaveness heavily slammed this decision, stating that bending fundamental sporting rules due to external political forces puts the whole game at risk.
They added that the incident won't be swept under the rug, as Klaveness plans to formally table the ethics complaint at the next board meeting of the NFF.
