8 Buddhist Monks Lose Their Lives And Dozens More Injured After Child Driver Slams Into Them With Dad’s Pickup Truck

Tragic reports have confirmed the fact that 10 buddhist monks reportedly lost their lives and more than one dozen were injured.

The news comes after a young 11 year old child with special needs lost control of his parents' pickup truck and plowed them down while they were engaged in a religious procession in northeastern Thailand.

This incident arose as a group of 35 monks and five lay followers were seen walking in a single line along the roadside. They were just 30 minutes into a planned gathering that comprised a pilgrimage that was 260km to the neighboring Ubon Ratchathani province.

CCTV footage from a nearby property showed the bronze Isuzu pickup truck swerve in a bizarre manner off the road and crash into the back of a procession at full speed. Authorities have confirmed that 10 monks died on the spot, and five of those were instant deaths at the scene.

Meanwhile, five more passed away from their critical injuries while being transported to a nearby hospital. Several others are still hospitalized with critical injuries. Authorities claim the child was home alone and didn't feel well, so they didn't go to school. He took his parents' car without permission and drove nearly 10km before ramming into pilgrims.
