President Trump on Tuesday evening shared a two-week ceasefire in the war, which he says is subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to a complete, immediate, and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post that was shared by Truth Social, the president mentioned how the US would cease all bombing during this window that he called a double-sided ceasefire that was only possible from the US perspective because military objectives had been met.
Iran's minister of foreign affairs shared how it accepted the terms in a statement that was made shortly after the US President's announcement, stating that if attacks on Iran were halted, its own operations would stop, and that for a period of two weeks, where safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be possible through coordination with Iran's Armed Forces.
This apparent deal would have the most direct effect on energy markets if Iran follows through and opens the crucial 21-mile-wide Hormuz waterway, which it blocked for so many weeks.
