Four-year-old Camila Romero's parents, Cassandra Tafolla and Hugo Romero, are now warning parents to stay vigilant about what their young children are doing and what they might be playing with after their child Camilla swallowed a button battery.
Camila was hospitalized on March 8 after she had a list of symptoms, including cough, fever, fatigue, and loss of appetite. She was first treated for a virus as she suffered from those symptoms, but during her treatment, an X-ray revealed she swallowed a button battery, as per ABC News.

Now, her parents are warning other parents to stay vigilant about what their young children might be doing or who they might be playing with after Camila swallowed a button battery.
The parents want to raise awareness about the dangers that such batteries pose and are also pleading with parents to double-check all of their toys to be on the safe side.

"Just make sure it's very well secured before opening and giving it to our kids that are going to be playing with it!"- the post read.
As per experts, each year in the US, nearly 3500 people, including kids and adults, are impacted by this condition. They end up swallowing button batteries. And between 1985 and 2019, 33 people have been killed by swallowing a button battery.
