Dominick Bianchi, a 35-year-old newlywed from New York, has been found dead nearly a week after he disappeared from his home.
Bianchi was last seen on the morning of September 8 in East Greenbush. When he left, he did not take his cellphone or wallet, and his car was also left behind. Those unusual circumstances quickly raised concern among his family and police.
His wife, Julianna Zyra, had publicly appealed for his return as authorities searched the area. She said Bianchi had been struggling with his mental health and also had Type 1 diabetes, adding to concerns because his glucose monitor was connected to the phone he had left behind.
Police launched an extensive search involving local officers, state police aviation resources, drones and other search efforts. Investigators also asked residents to check private properties, vehicles, trail cameras and surveillance footage for any sign of Bianchi.
On September 13, police confirmed that Bianchi had been found dead in a wooded area. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the exact location where his body was discovered.
Police have said they do not currently believe the death was suspicious. An autopsy is expected to help determine the official cause of death, which had not been released publicly at the time of the latest reports.
The discovery brought an end to the search but left Bianchi's family and friends grieving. His father-in-law thanked the community and investigators who helped search for him, while loved ones remembered him following his sudden disappearance and death.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Bianchi's death remains ongoing, and officials have not yet released a final cause of death.
