In what is being described as a shocking twist of events, the latest trustee for Nick Reiner's trust fund has now blocked his request to access funds from it to cover court fees and commissary costs, citing California's slayer statute.
The 32-year-old filed a petition to access the trust fund in California's court in June. He claimed that this trust, which his parents established in his name in 1993 after his birth, is now in excess of $1.5 million.
The past and incoming fiduciaries set to oversee the trust, Paul Kanin and Jodi Pais Montgomery, have now opposed his request in court papers filed in early August, citing California law known as the Slayer Statute.
This would prevent individuals from inheriting funds or property, including trusts, from a person they feloniously and intentionally kill.
