Punch the Monkey was seen receiving more than 2500 first birthday cards after a year of overcoming loneliness.

The famous macaque from Japan whose bond with a plush orangutan turned him into an international sensation celebrated his first birthday this weekend. And fans made sure he knew that he was loved and never forgotten.

As per reports from AP News, the monkey got more than 2500 birthday cards from supporters around the globe. This is far more than what the zoo could display pinned to the walls of the Ichikawa City Zoo in Chiba near Tokyo, chronicling his whole life.

Born in July of 2025, Punch was abandoned by his mother shortly after birth, believed to be due to exhaustion. But since then, the exorbitant amount of love he got from all over has people talking till today.
