The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C. is experiencing a major peeling of the new American Flag Blue sealant and paint liner.

The damage was heavily documented by media outlets and photographers on June 18, less than two weeks after the pool officially reopened on June 6 following a very publicized $14.2 million renovation ordered by President Trump.
Photographers and journalists documented tears and 3x3-foot chunks of the dark navy blue sealant detaching from the floor and floating to the surface.

Despite the multi-million dollar overhaul that was designed to clean the landmark, an aggressive algae bloom swiftly turned the water back into a muddy green hue. Now, it seems that they're using bleach to try to bring back the blue and get rid of algae, but no public solution has been revealed about the paint sealant error.
