President Trump's top US intelligence official, Tulsi Gabbard, has resigned from her leading position in the Trump cabinet.
The director of national intelligence has turned in her resignation letter, as confirmed by local media outlets.
Gabbard advised the president of her strong intention to step down during an Oval Office meeting on Friday, as shared by the press.
The resignation is effective June 30, the letter added. Gabbard mentioned to the president how she is deeply grateful to him for entrusting her and placing her in a leading position and for this great opportunity to lead the office of the Director of National Intelligence for the last year and a half.
She cited the reason for her resignation as a recent diagnosis of her husband, which included a rare form of bone cancer.
