The father of an 8-year-old girl who was found dead inside a suitcase in Cleveland, Ohio, has now spoken publicly for the first time regarding this tragedy.
The girl named Mila Chatman and her 10-year-old half-sister, Amor Wilson, were both discovered on March 2 when a person happened to be walking a dog found a suitcase inside a field. Police later found another suitcase nearby containing the second child's body.
Authorities swiftly rolled out an investigation into this matter and arrested Aliyah Henderson, who was charged with two counts of aggravated murder in connection with the deaths.
Mila's father, DeShaun Chatman, mentioned how he feels so devastated and helpless at the same time about this incident. He explained how he had not seen his daughter in four years amid claims of trying to get custody, but felt he was kept away from her.
He mentioned how there were several attempts made to child services several times, as he was so worried about her well-being.
Chatman added how the tragedy could have been prevented if he had allowed to care for his daughter.
