Supermodel Cindy Crawford is mourning the loss of her only son, who has died at the age of 27.
The family confirmed the heartbreaking news after the 27-year-old died on Sept. 20. According to medical examiner records, he died at a rehabilitation facility. His official cause of death has not been disclosed, and an autopsy is still pending.
A representative for Crawford, her husband Rande Gerber and their daughter Kaia Gerber confirmed the death and asked for privacy during what they described as a “very difficult and painful time.”
Like his famous mother, he built a career in modeling. He began modeling as a teenager after signing with IMG Models and later worked with major fashion brands, including Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino and Burberry. He also appeared in campaigns and fashion shows alongside some of the industry's biggest names.
In recent years, he had also spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and addiction. He shared parts of his recovery journey with followers and had been open about seeking treatment.
His sister, model and actress Kaia Gerber, had recently spoken about the impact his long struggle had on their family and praised his openness about what he was going through.
The family has not released further details about his death and continues to ask for privacy as they grieve.
