Images taken during the high-profile World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, were seen showing US President Donald Trump with a very noticeable bruise on the back of his left hand while he attended a Board of Peace signing ceremony.
The bruise was visibly so dark and drew a huge amount of attention from the press and different social media platforms because it was not on the hand that had previously shown those marks.
The White House and Trump replied to the speculation, explaining to reporters on Air Force One that the bruise arose from accidentally hitting his hand on the corner of a table during the event.
He then applied some cream after that, and stressed that he regularly takes a high dose of aspirin for his heart health, which could make bruising more pronounced.
Trump then joked about the medication, adding how those who like their hearts should take this medication, but if you don't want to have a little bruising, then don't take it.
The latest bruise on the president's hand reignited a bigger public and media scrutiny linked to his health and age, with some observers speaking about previous marks on his right hand and noting how big a contrast it is.
