A California city was seen pulling the plug on the entire computer network after a cyberattack knocked out key systems, including 911 routing and police and fire dispatch.
As a result, Suisun City ended up declaring a state of emergency on Saturday after malicious software breached all IT systems at about 5:45 am on Friday. The city's response was said to be drastic at the time.
Officials there shut down the whole network to prevent the threat from spreading and protect evidence for a federal investigation. Despite all of this digital chaos, Suisun City officials mentioned that residents were not facing an immediate danger.
Emergency crews continue to remain on the streets with city dispatchers routing calls through the Solano County dispatch center. Cops and fire personnel are now continuing to respond to calls for service.
