Ex-Brit Army soldier & Netflix star Nirmal Purja confirmed dead after 10 climbers caught in avalanche

Former British army soldier and Netflix star Nirmal Purja has been confirmed dead alongside nine others who were caught in a devastating avalanche.

The bodies of Purja and all the others were recovered on Broad Peak in Pakistan, as per rescuers.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan made it clear on Sunday that the renowned hiker was found about 5700 meters up the mountain, where three further bodies were also sighted, but their identities were not confirmed.

The 43-year-old's death was shared on Saturday by his company, Elite Expeditions, which said he was among the 10 people killed in the avalanche. The Prince of Wales was among those to pay tribute to the tragic passing.

Purja was born in Nepal and later served in the British Army. He was known for scaling the world's 14 highest peaks in just over six months in 2019.
