10 mountaineers, including world-famous climber Nirmal Purja, have reportedly been missing after an avalanche struck on Broad Peak.
The mountain, located in the Pakistani-administered Gilgit-Baltistan, is where search and rescue operations are underway but subject to weather conditions.
Pakistan's army has dispatched two helicopters for this effort. Nepal-born Purja, who is a former Royal Marine, is the leader of the expedition, which also features an American, a Chinese, an Omani, and five Nepalis.
Purja is famed for climbing all 14 of the world's 8000 meter plus mountains in just over six months in 2019. Nepali news did confirm that so far, four bodies have been found as the entire community is in mourning, praying and hoping for a miracle.
