Virgin Atlantic Aircraft Engineer Dies After Being ‘Crushed’ While Working on Plane, Prompting Airline to Launch Safety Investigation

A 23-year-old Virgin Atlantic Aircraft engineer has died after getting crushed while on duty.

Sources have now identified the victim as Georgie Buxton, who passed away following a maintenance accident at London's Heathrow Airport, prompting a joint safety investigation by the airline, Boeing, and British authorities.

The victim passed away after staying in the ICU for nearly four weeks. The cause appeared to be heavy equipment or machinery that collapsed on the engineer during maintenance testing. Now, the police and the Health and Safety Executive are carrying out a joint inquiry with an upcoming inquest at West London's Coroner's Court.

Virgin Atlantic chose to ground that specific Dreamliner and expressed deep sorrow for the victim's family during this difficult time.
