Nolan Wells reportedly drank heavily and opted to stay on a remote island before vanishing.
The young college football player was found dead on July 6, two days after vanishing during a Fourth of July boat trip to Horn Island, Mississippi. Emerging documents and newly shared emergency calls highlighted conflicting accounts between state authorities, the friends he was with, and his loved ones regarding his final hours.
Preliminary search and rescue emails from the Department of Marine Resources stated that witnesses shared how Wells had been drinking heavily on the island. However, his best friend Warren Hudson did state in public how Wells had not been drinking and seemed completely fine.
Wells' pals claimed they had to leave Horn Island on the afternoon of July 4 due to boat engine issues. They alleged a friend begged him to get on the boat, but he refused and chose to stay with a young woman he met, planning to hitch a ride back later.
