Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino steps down after ‘woke’ rebrand sparked backlash from customers — and even Trump

Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino has officially decided to step down from her leading role.

The news follows a major turbulent tenure marked by a huge branding and logo controversy that drew serious public criticism.

The firm shared more about how Masino would be officially vacating her role and will remain with the firm in an advisory capacity until October 9 to help with this transition. The former CEO of Bloomin' Brands has now been named as her successor.

The primary catalyst for the corporate shakeup dates back to August, when Masino spearheaded a mega $700 million modernization strategy designed to attract younger demographics.

The defining flashpoint arose when Cracker Barrel replaced its iconic 47-year-old Old Timer logo. This featured a man in overalls leaning against a barrel with a minimalistic text-only design.
