NBC News fires security guard over ‘Today’ show fiasco where intruder confronted Craig Melvin with racial slur

An intruder was seen slipping past security so easily at the NBC News headquarters in New York City,

This led to the dismissal of a security guard on duty as the incident sparked a major threat to the entire building at 9 am.

The intruder was identified by the NYC police department as a 41-year-old Andrew Truelove, who entered the building looking for Today show host Al Roker. After failing to locate Roker, Truelove reached the studio staircase, where he confronted co-host Craig Melvin.

During this encounter, Truelove targeted Melvin with a racial slur. That's when the leading host alerted security, and Truelove was arrested after getting detained.

Security footage revealed that two guards were on duty at the time, one had stepped away, and that is what led to the breach.
