While they're marketed as being harmless stress relievers, the toys are full of gooey and sugar based substances that expand quickly when they're exposed to high temperatures. They are mostly in demand due to the popularity of TikTok challenges, where kids can be seen heating up the toys.
This causes an internal pressure to develop and the toy to explode, splattering a molten glue-like gel that clings to both the skin and kids' clothes.
