A tragic incident has left at least 15 people dead and injured many others after a truck driver fell asleep at the wheel.
The terrifying incident has raised concerns about road safety, particularly at night, causing the loss of innocent life.
This particular crash arose in Kwara state, Nigeria, where authorities have confirmed the death of 15 people and more than 17 others injured after the truck driver fell asleep behind the wheel.
The incident took place at about 2:30 am where the truck could be seen veering off the road, resulting in the trailer overturning and crushing passengers, while so many more were flung to the roadside. There were 48 people on board the vehicle at the time.
Some of those injured sustained terrifying injuries, including bone fractures and dislocations, while 16 of them remained unhurt. Victims were seen rushing to the Arewa Medical Center and Baki Hospital. Search efforts are still taking place under the wreckage. But authorities claim the matter seems to be an incident involving mixed loading, which is a crime.
This is the term reserved for mixing heavy cargo in the same space as passengers.
