A 51-year-old three-time amputee is sharing his absolute frustration over the mannerisms of airport staff before boarding his flight.
James says he was left in a state of absolute public humiliation by the gate agent of United Airlines in Los Angeles recently. This is while he tried to pre-board his flight from LA to New Jersey.
Despite the fact that his lower limb amputation was clearly mentioned and visible to the staff, it was appalling how this behavior was considered normal to them. James says he places complete reliance on his cane and even suffers from serious, limited physical stamina.
After making use of the wheelchair at the airport to reach his gate, he tried to walk a minimal distance down the jetbridge to try to keep the ramp clear so other wheelchair users could benefit.
However, after standing for 15 minutes near the limit of his physical tolerance, the gate agent prevented him from boarding. He stated that he had to wait with all the rest of the people on the flight. This left him shocked and confused as to why he was being singled out.
The incident has sparked outrage online, with many wondering how much a passenger has to suffer to pass the bar for accommodations at the federal level.
