“An Absolute Miracle”- Shark victim mom finally reunited with her baby 12 days after being mauled by great white shark

A 34-year-old mother and teacher, Leah Stewart, has finally started the process of recovery and healing after being bitten by a great white shark 12 days ago.

What might have appeared as a grim chance of survival at first soon transformed into a moment of happiness for loved ones as she slowly but surely began returning to normalcy after being in a coma for days.

Stewart was said to be swimming between the flags that were close to the shore at Sydney's iconic Coogee Beach when she was mauled by a great white shark. She ended up suffering from catastrophic blood loss, several bone fractures, and ultimately needed surgical amputation of her arm.

After spending nearly 11 days inside the ICU on life support, doctors were able to successfully extubate her. This meant she could talk and be awake and alert. What was even more great is how she was finally reunited with her one-year-old daughter, marking the first time since they held on to each other after days apart.
