Terrifying reports have confirmed two back-to-back earthquakes of powerful nature striking less than one minute apart from each other.
The mega disaster was an unprecedented seismic doublet that started at 18:04 local time with a mega 7.2 foreshock. Just 39 seconds after that, another stronger 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck the same region, marking the most powerful earthquake to strike Venezuela in more than 125 years.
The terrifying tremors left the entire nation shaken and were felt as far as in the neighboring nation of Colombia. The country's capital city of Caracas was expected to bear most of the damage, with high-rise buildings collapsing to the ground.
Entire structures and walls were seen on horrifying footage as they came crashing down across different neighborhoods with clouds of dust hanging from the sky.
Massive utility outages immediately cut power and internet services across the nation. After the disaster, the US Tsunami Warning System issued tsunami threats for nearby Caribbean territories. Rescue teams were seen getting deployed immediately, but officials have warned that major structural damage and serious casualties were heavily feared as those aftershocks continue.
