Tragic reports have confirmed the presence of two major earthquakes that have struck Venezuela this evening.
Witnesses reported feeling tremors in the capital city of Caracas. The first earthquake was recorded to be 7.1 in magnitude, while another 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck, as confirmed by authorities. Both quakes were said to have occurred minutes from one another.
Terrified residents were seen rushing to evacuate their homes as the quake shook tall buildings in the vicinity. One of the witnesses shared how cracks soon started to form on the building's side, with a threat of it falling. Therefore, residents were urged to remain outside as aftershocks continue.
At the same time, authorities have issued a red alert tsunami warning as the first quake struck shortly after 10 pm at a depth of 10km. Therefore, hazardous tsunami waves are possible for coasts within 300km of the quake's epicenter. The warning was given for Bonaire, Aruba, Curacao, and Venezuela.
