At least 12 people were wounded after an SUV pulled up to a crowd on a street in Chicago, and individuals inside were seen opening fire.
The Chicago police department says the drive-by attack occurred in a South Side neighborhood. Police reported that an SUV approached a gathering before two gunmen inside started to shoot into the crowd. The vehicle immediately ended up fleeing the scene.

The victims included eight men and four men, ranging from 17 to 47 years in age. Two men remain in critical condition, while others are being treated at four local hospitals for different injuries, including gunshot and graze wounds.

The mass shooting took place during Juneteenth weekend. This is a period marked by a bigger surge in local gun violence. Cops shared more about how at least 21 people were shot across the city between Friday evening and Saturday, giving rise to four fatalities.
