Two trains have collided near Bedford, reportedly resulting in serious injuries to all those on board. Five air ambulances were seen hovering over the area after the incident was reported.
Videos from the scene taken by passengers showed what seemed to be two East Midlands Railways trains that had run into one another. The graphic images showed injured passengers covered with blood on the floor of the train.
The front of the train is believed to have stopped owing to a safety system fault. The second train then ended up colliding with the back of it.
