A night of pure entertainment turned into a scene of absolute terror in New York City's Times Square after a sudden eruption of gunfire sent hundreds of terrified tourists and bystanders running for their lives.
The chaos arose near the intersection of 44th Street and Seventh Avenue in the heart of Manhattan's famous tourist theater district. As per witnesses, a physical dispute arose involving a giant group of teens that quickly escalated when a 17-year-old gunman pulled out a firearm and started discharging it inside the crowded pedestrian plaza.
As the loud shots of gunfire rang out, the area quickly dissolved into a mass of panic and fear. Tourists were seen running and screaming for their lives while bystanders ducked for cover behind giant concrete barriers.
The shooting reportedly left three people injured, including an 18-year-old female tourist from Maryland who suffered from a graze wound to her neck. Another injured included a 65-year-old male who suffered a leg injury. Another 19-year-old male was also hospitalized but is in stable condition.
Cops soon arrived in full force and managed to apprehend the teen suspect after a short pursuit, and recovered his firearm successfully as well.
