High-flying friends killed after being swept out to sea while napping on notorious California beach

Two friends were reportedly killed after getting swept away into the ocean in Santa Cruz County as dangerous waves continued to batter the entire California state coastline.

21-year-old Harshita Nair and 20-year-old Mahial Sran, who hail from Fremont, were identified as the victims at the Boony Doon Beach last Wednesday, as confirmed by the local sheriff's coroner's office.

Nair was a legal studies major at UC Berkley and was all geared up to graduate in the year 2027. Sran was set to earn her degree in public health at San Jose University next year as well. Both women graduated from the same school in Fremont. They were believed to be napping near a keyhole on the famously dangerous beach when the waves swept them out to sea.
