Pima County sheriff issues alert for kidnapping suspect 7 miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home

The Pima County Sheriff's Department has just issued a 'be on the lookout' alert for a woman named Coral Michelle Smith, who is 40 years old and wanted for a separate kidnapping and aggravated assault case.

Shockingly, the incident arose nearly seven miles away from the Tucson residence of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie. She was kidnapped in February this year.

Authorities have boldly stated that there are zero known links between Coral Michelle Smith and the current investigation into the Nancy Guthrie disappearance. The incident has raised eyebrows from locals in the community who have become wary of going out at night after this alert.

The suspect's description was also released and described as being 5'6", 136 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes, and having a criminal history. Authorities also noted that the physical discrepancies between Smith and the suspect in the February 2026 abduction video suggested that there was no connection.
