Authorities in Japan have confirmed that they will not release the official cause of death of the missing US student found dead.
The 20 year old Auburn University student was reportedly on a family trip in the country but went missing after having an argument, his mother shared. The family feared that he was emotionally distressed and therefore hired private rescuers to locate him.
Sadly, the search came to a tragic end as his remains were found in a mountainous region. The police have confirmed that no foul play is suspected and the case is being treated as a non-criminal matter.
The student separated from his loved ones at a Kyoto train station to go on a decompression hike, but his phone GPS tracking stopped shortly after that.
The three-day search involving more than 100 cops, K-9 units, and helicopters was carried out, and search efforts faced numerous hurdles due to dense forest terrain and a typhoon that swept through the region.
