The final text message that was shared by the best friend of the American student who went missing in Japan was 'Thank you so much... Enjoying your stay in Japan!'- which he claims went completely unanswered.
The message was sent on May 26 by 20-year-old Hiyu Shikari to his childhood best pal, James Weston Higginbotham, who was a 20-year-old student from Auburn University, who tragically went missing and was soon found dead.

Shikari and his friend were childhood besties from America who hadn't seen one another since middle school. They reunited for a short period of time in Shinjuku, Tokyo, while Higginbotham happened to be on a family vacation.

Shikari says he followed up with a friendly check-in text on May 26, noting how his pal seemed completely normal and excited about this trip. His cause of death is yet to be shared publicly as investigations continue into the tragedy.
