A private Gulfstream G200 business jet reportedly crashed and exploded at the La Romana International Airport in the Dominican Republic on Sunday, killing both the pilot and co-pilot.
While it's true that everyone on board lost their lives, no passengers were on the aircraft. The two deaths were solely linked to the flight crew members. The US-registered private plane refueled and departed from La Romana and was said to be bound for Austin, Texas, when the incident arose.
Shortly after the takeoff, the crew shared how it suffered serious mechanical issues, perhaps linked to the plane's engine or maybe a hydraulic fault. As a result, it declared an emergency, nearly 16 nautical miles southwest of the airport. As the pilots made an attempt to do an emergency return landing, the plane lost its stability and skidded across the runway and burst into a huge fireball upon touchdown.
