At least 21 people were killed, and more than 40 others were rescued and taken to hospitals after a devastating fire broke out at a multi-story building that was said to be housing a hotel and restaurant in New Delhi.
The tragedy took place on the morning in the congested neighborhood of South Delhi. The fire ended up sweeping through the building that was housing the famous Flourish Stay B&B and the Lemon Green Restaurant in Hauz Rani. The majority of the victims were said to be foreign nationals, mostly from African nations and Central Asia. They had traveled to the country to seek medical treatment at nearby facilities.
Shocking reports explained how many of the guests were asleep when the fire broke out. The Delhi Fire Service shared more about how they got the distress call at about 8:48 am local time and deployed eight fire engines to extinguish the blaze.
