At Least 5 Theme Park Goers Injured After Swing Ride Topples Over, Leaving Riders Crashing to the Ground

At least five theme park goers, including two children, were left injured after a chair swing ride collapsed at Happyland Amusement Park near Kerala, India.

The incident arose over the weekend at about 2 pm local time during a busy school vacation season. Sources shared more about how the malfunction arose while the ride was in full operation, with the top structure starting to lean heavily towards one side.

As the ride was seen tilting, the rotating chairs dropped dangerously close to the ground, causing several riders to slam into a yellow safety barrier and the terrain below.

Five victims, ranging in age from 14 to 54, sustained serious injuries. Four of them were treated for serious fractures and stable injuries, while one woman was transferred to a specialized medical facility for serious injuries.
