Five people were killed, and 34 more were injured in a massive crash that occurred between a bus and six vehicles on Interstate 95 in Virginia early Friday morning, as per state authorities.
This accident reportedly unfolded at about 2:35 am on the I-95 south in Stafford County, which is about 45 miles south of Washington DC, as confirmed by the police.
As Traffic slowed for a work zone, the bus was not able to slow down, and it hit six other cars, killing five in the cars, according to the police. 34 people were reportedly injured and rushed to nearby hospitals, including three with critical injuries, the police shared.
The crash initially closed all lanes of the I-95, which was confirmed by Virginia's Department of Transportation, resulting in massive delays for the Friday commute. Northbound lanes have since reopened. Charges are currently pending as per the police.
