A major explosion and subsequent fire on Staten Island on Friday afternoon killed one person and injured nearly 36 more.
As per the FDNY, one civilian is dead, and three firefighters were reported to be in a critical condition, and two more are moderately injured.
The remaining victims suffered minor injuries. Someone shared how two workers were trapped in a confined space at the dock at about 3:30 pm, and responding firefighters rushed to find a blaze burning in the basement of a metal structure at the dock.
Crews were still fighting this fire when a huge explosion occurred at the site nearly 50 minutes later.
It's yet to be clear if anyone died in this fire or explosion, as the investigation continues to determine the cause of the explosion.
