This is the shocking moment that a 22-year-old man was killed in a crocodile attack in India on Thursday.
The incident has reportedly left the entire local community in mourning.

The victim was identified as Mithun Vasava, who was grazing cattle near his village when he went to the Dev River to fetch water.
A crocodile estimated to be nearly 12 feet long ended up lunging from the shallows and clamping its jaws around his waist before dragging him into deeper waters.

Disturbing footage was recorded by bystanders, which showed the reptile holding onto the victim's body for hours as it continued to swim closer across the river, and therefore prevented any attempts of the victim to get rescued.
Witnesses on the banks shared how they could do little as they watched in horror as the predator disappeared into the murky waters whenever the boats approached.
