Man sentenced to death for murder of teen TikTok star

A court has sentenced a 23-year-old man to death for the murder of TikTok influencer Sana Yousaf, who was shot dead at her residence in Islamabad last year after she constantly rejected his advances.

Judge M. Afzal on Tuesday convicted Umar Hayat of intentional murder and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 2.5 million in compensation to Yousaf's family, as per local media outlets.

The death penalty is subject to confirmation by the High Court in Islamabad, as per the press.

The judge also imposed further fines and prison terms on Hayat on robbery, defamation, and stolen property charges. As per the cops, the murderer forced his way into the family home and shot her in front of her mother and aunt before fleeing with her mobile phone.

Yousaf was a famous figure on TikTok and Instagram with a combined follower count of 1.3 million. She was famous for posting videos related to fashion, skincare, and lifestyle.
