Tragic reports are speaking about 10 students being rushed to the hospital after a packed school bus crashed in Sydney's west.
Emergency services were called to Erskine Park Road in Erskine Park shortly before 1 pm on Thursday, following reports that a bus had veered off the road before it struck a pole and then a tree.
The Daily Mail understands that the driver, aged in his 50s, might have suffered a medical episode prior to this crash.
He was treated by paramedics and rushed to the Westmead Hospital in a critical condition, as confirmed by an ambulance spokesperson. A teacher and 41 students from grades 11 and 12 at Erskine Park High School were also on board this bus, returning from an excursion.
Sources shared how at least ten ambulances were deployed to the scene, and many students who were rushed to a nearby hospital were between the ages of 16 and 18. Many of the injuries were minor and not life-threatening, but one did suffer a series of fractures.
