The concerned mother of one of the teen shooters at the San Diego incident had frantically alerted the cops that her suicidal son had run away in camo and with some of her weapons, sparking a huge hunt in the hours before the bloodshed unfolded.
The cops spent nearly two hours scrambling to locate the suspects, identified as 17-year-old Cain Clark and 18-year-old Caleb Velasquez, before gunshots started to ring out at the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday.
The mother first called the cops at about 9:40 am, warning that her son was suicidal, as confirmed by the police chief.
The situation only escalated when the mother soon learned weapons were missing from the residence, and her car was gone.
She explained to authorities that her son had dressed in camouflage and was with an acquaintance at the time, which was not consistent with what you'd see with someone who was suicidal, the police shared.
