A car plowed into pedestrians in Italy, leading to eight people, one of whom needed to have both of her legs amputated following the incident.
The tragedy occurred yesterday in Modena, Italy, which is a popular tourist destination in the northern part of the country, as per the Associated Press.
In a statement that was shared, the city's mayor mentioned more about how eight people were injured in this crash, four of whom are now in serious condition.
He added that one of the victims was a woman who was pinned against a storefront window and has since then undergone the amputation of both of her legs.
The driver was identified as a 31-year-old man born in Italy. Witnesses shared more about how the driver was also holding a knife, but he did not stab anyone.
The driver tried to flee the scene, but he was stopped by several people involved in the crash and by the police.
