A biology high school teacher from Georgia has now been arrested after being accused of sexually abusing a student on two different occasions.
One of the alleged incidents was believed to have taken place inside the closet of her classroom.
Maris Nichols has been charged with two counts of sexual assault by an individual with supervisory or disciplinary authority, as per media outlets.
The 25-year-old was seen making an appearance in the courtroom on Friday, where a judge set her bond at $40,000.
Those assaults arose when Nichols was teaching at Alexander High School in Douglasville. Nichols was accused of having intercourse with the student on two different occasions.
The first incident took place on April 23 inside the closet at the high school, while the second arose in a Hummer in a residential driveway on May 2. Concerned parents have spoken about the shocking matter, asking the administration to be transparent with the investigation as the teacher is taken into custody. They added that student safety is the district's number one priority.
