A Minnesota woman’s mugshot has gone viral after social media users noticed a striking resemblance between her and Jennifer Lopez.
Cyrena Anne Quast, 35, was arrested in Monticello on August 30 after allegedly stealing two double packs of power-tool batteries worth about $580 from a store, according to a criminal complaint. A store employee reportedly recognized Quast from an earlier alleged theft and contacted police.
Quast reportedly admitted to the theft and was booked on a gross misdemeanor theft charge. She was released the following day.
But it was her booking photo, rather than the theft itself, that quickly drew widespread attention. Online users began comparing Quast’s appearance to Jennifer Lopez, with some joking that the resemblance was so strong that they initially thought they were looking at the pop star herself.

The comparisons spread across social media, where users shared the mugshot and made jokes referencing Lopez’s music and celebrity image. One nickname making the rounds was “Jenny from D-Block,” a play on Lopez’s famous “Jenny from the Block” hit.

The viral attention has overshadowed what would otherwise have been a routine local theft case. While Quast faces the theft allegation, the internet has largely focused on the unexpected resemblance seen in her booking photo.
Records cited in reports also show that the August arrest was not Quast’s first encounter with law enforcement. She has previously been arrested in cases involving allegations including drug possession, driving while intoxicated, fleeing police and providing false identification.
Quast has since been released, while the theft case remains separate from the social-media attention surrounding her mugshot. The resemblance to Lopez remains an observation made by social media users, not an indication of any relationship between the two women.
