Rihanna and her family were inside their home when at least 20 shots were fired toward the property earlier this year, and the woman accused in the terrifying attack has now been indicted on attempted murder and other felony charges.

Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 36-year-old woman from Florida, was indicted by a Los Angeles County grand jury on 14 felony counts, including attempted murder, after prosecutors accused her of opening fire at Rihanna’s home. The indictment was unsealed Wednesday.

According to prosecutors, Ortiz allegedly drove to the property on March 8 and fired an AR-style semiautomatic rifle multiple times. Authorities say at least 20 rounds were fired toward the home and a neighboring property.

Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three young children, Rihanna’s mother and staff members were on the property at the time. Bullets struck an Airstream trailer where Rihanna and Rocky were located and also hit the exterior wall of a nursery where the children and their nanny were present. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Ortiz allegedly fled after the shooting and was later arrested. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges. A judge recently ruled that she is mentally competent to stand trial after months of psychiatric evaluations.

The indictment includes one count of attempted murder, 10 counts of assault with an assault weapon and three counts related to shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper. If convicted as charged, Ortiz could face life in prison.
Authorities have not publicly established a motive or confirmed any personal connection between Ortiz and Rihanna. Ortiz's defense maintains her not-guilty position, and the charges remain allegations unless proven in court. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for October 29.
